The Best in the West kayak competition is one of the longest standing kayak events in the U.S. Every year in the middle of May, kayakers converge in Missoula to surf Brennan's Wave and the legendary "Comp Hole" on the Alberton Gorge. Easily one of the best playspots in North America (10,000-15,000 cfs, USGS Clark Fork below Missoula gage) this venue provides the canvas for the best of what the true freestyle kayaking lifestyle has to offer. You are invited to join this community.

Registration, Gear Swap, Vendor Booths, and Practice Rides begin @ 12:00, Competition begins @ 3:00
(All competitors welcome: junior through master & recreational through expert)

Freestyle Finals Competition @ Triple Bridges on the Alberton Gorge

Here are a few shots of Comp Hole when it is at more of a hole level, approximately 10,000 to 12,000 cfs (below Missoula).
